« on: 04 November 2009, 03:05:44 »
General Comments and (Friendly) Recommendations

1.01. The Translators’ Forum (TF) has been created first and foremost for discussions on translators’ professional life and other matters connected with translation and interpretation. It can be practical help in translation, sharing experience, useful links, providing of interesting information, advice, things, important for the process of translator training etc. Therefore it is recommended to avoid discussion on bad weather, bad temper and other interesting and important – for you – things, though not interesting and not important for the rest of the members. (There is a special place for such dull talks – Miscellanea > Chat Ground).
1.02. The TF member has the right to be treated with respect and at the same time he or she has to respect other members’ beliefs and ideas. A discussion has to be based on the principle of tolerance. Moving from professional to personal matters is inexcusable and can be punished in accordance with these Rules
1.03. We use good English here. Elements of slang or jargon may be used sometimes to create certain effect but cannot be used permanently.
It is obligatory to use Latin letters in English section of the TF, and Cyrillic – in Ukrainian and Russian sections.
1.04. ---
1.05. Before answering a post read what have been written on this topic previous pages.
1.06. Asking for help in translation of words and word combinations, never forget to provide 1-3 sentences context!
1.07. Giving links to another web-site material, you should describe its content in brief or provide quotations.
1.08. Giving quotations do not overuse “copy-paste” method.
1.09. Please do not upload “heavy” pictures and images – the TF has its limitations and they may be deleted.
1.10. ---

Anyone who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to notify Administration of the Forum immediately.
1.13. The TF Administration reserves the right to delete, change, transfer or close any topic and post without explanation if we determine that this action is necessary.
1.14. The owners of this forum also reserve the right to reveal your identity (or any other related information collected on this service) in the event of a formal complaint or legal action arising from any situation caused by your use of this forum.
